DREAM PLAY

What is a dream? Everyone experience them night after night without knowing exactly where they come from or what they are. Through history they have been a subject of study and fascination. Human beings have tried to decipher their meaning, analyze them through psychology, understand them as responses to neuronal processes, reflexes of the subconscious, premonitions or god’s messages.
The oniric world has served as inspiration of many artistic manifestations. In the XIX century, Romanticism sought to enhance the value of emotion and irrational inspiration: visions obtained through dreams or intoxication trances.
Strindberg wrote “A Dream Play” which served as a guideline for the expressionism and surrealism to create worlds where fantasy and reality were intertwined.
Dream Play , title inspired by the play and concept previously described, consist of a dream diary translated into photographic images in a series that alludes –through places, characters and unreal situations- to the hallucinations that lie in dreams.
The images in Dream Play , try to “stage” this diffuse place in conscience where human dreams lie in.
